SamInvests criteria for investment:
- SamInvest invests between SEK 200 thousand and SEK 5 million in the associated company and can own up to a maximum of 30 per cent of the shares.
- The objective is to be an owner for a limited period, up to a maximum of 10 years, in order to thereafter sell the ownership at a profit.
- The buyer can be another larger company, financial investors in an initial public offering on the market, other venture capital firms or the entrepreneur itself.
- SamInvest has as a requirement that the collaborating party appoints a board member in the company. The responsibility for the follow up of the investment is divided between SamInvest and the collaborating party.
Companies with good prospects
The entrepreneur, the growth opportunities and the prospects for profitability are the main criteria for SamInvest’s choice of commitment. Investments are mainly made in start-up companies, companies in expansion and companies in the change process.
Investments in all industries
SamInvest has no general trade restrictions but the assessment of each case is made on an individual basis. A fundamental prerequisite for all investments is that the company’s processing takes place in the county, i.e. that the production and/or development that provides employment takes place in the region.
Always invests together with a collaborating party
SamInvest always carries out the investment together with a private collaborating party. The collaborating party can be a venture capital company, an individual investor, a network of investors or a company. The collaborating party should not be a part-owner, nor have any other financial interests in the company, before the investment is made. The investment must also issue new shares in the company.
The collaborating party carries out the business assessment, negotiates about the terms and makes the decision first about investing or declining the investment. Afterwards SamInvest’s board makes a decision on the exact same terms that the collaborating party negotiated on (so-called pari passu).
Today, SamInvest has collaboration agreements with 25 or so investors but investment can also take place with a new private partner who fulfils the criteria.
